As a project manager for international collaborative research projects, you are responsible for the day-to-day project management of multiple complex and dynamic projects. In practice this would require successful candidate to work on several projects simultaneously. The main duties are: management of assigned projects by ensuring they are executed at the highest possible quality level, in compliance with the set framework. You will respect the needs and requirements of the funding agencies, work in close collaboration with the scientific project leader and other team members, as well as other support staff. You support all non-scientific, administrative, financial and legal management of the network and project activities. You will manage your consortium, arrange meetings, assist in the organisation of communication activities and meet reporting requirements. You maintain an effective communication between the consortium partners, and the EU. You support, monitor and guard a smooth, effective and timely execution of the project plan and its budget. You are able to shift between tasks and keep oversight on priorities. You know when to align with other internal and external stakeholders. The project manager will become a member of the Research Support Office team. You report directly to the Head of Research Office and you will work closely with the Post-Award coordinator. Next to that, you work closely with the scientific project leader and the support staff at the division level. You will have a roaming desk and you will be partially embedded in the divisions where the projects are running.

Department

The Research Office is part of the Corporate Staff of the University Medical Center Utrecht. The Research Office focuses on strategic advice on development, implementation and evaluation of science policy within UMC Utrecht. We address the local, regional, national and international positioning of the UMC Utrecht research. One of our tasks is to strengthen our position, as well as increase the knowledge base by training of researchers and support staff. By this, we contribute to UMC Utrecht's mission of stimulating high-quality research, supporting excellent researchers and increasing the recruitment capacity of UMC Utrecht. Therefore, advising and supporting researchers in finding innovation and valorisation opportunities and supporting the development of grant applications belong to the tasks of the Research Office.

Profile

We are looking for a project manager with knowledge of European grants and Dutch collaborative research projects. You have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in project management of complex international research projects in an academic setting. We are looking for a colleague with an excellent ability to multi-task and solve problems, who is pro-active and can judge independently, enjoys working in a team, has excellent communication and inter-personal skills. A professional and reliable person who can work in a multi-cultural environment and can establish and maintain harmonious cooperation in complex internal and external setting with diverse stakeholders. Our new colleague has a good eye for detail and is structured and well-organized. Good oral and written command of English is required and of Dutch preferred. In addition, you have knowledge and experience in the field of financial and legal aspects of EU Horizon 2020 projects. Your experience with Dutch research collaborative projects is welcome. You are willing to perform both high and low level tasks in the relevant projects; you are service-oriented towards the academic staff, willing to occasionally travel abroad, to work against the deadlines and towards solutions.

The maximum salary for this position (70-90%) is € 4.917,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours). This job is based on a temporary position for 1-5 years.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses, career opportunities and personal budget. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).

Details

The appointment is a temporary appointment, starting with a one year contract (Art.2.4.3. TC).
